Council Advisory Committee (CAC) - is comprised of the Executive Officers of each Sector Association, SAWIN representative and the Executive Officer of WFSA. The CAC provides recommendations to the WFSA Council for decision and has proven to be an effective and efficient way to distil a collective position. This vertically integrated structure has also encouraged more fishers to join sector Associations as they get the added advantage of membership to a strong united peak body.
The relative strength and ability of individual sectors to look after their own needs does not undermine or compete with WFSA but rather strengthens our collective position. Moreover, it has always been the position of WFSA that strong sector associations are the cornerstone of a functional and effective peak industry body.
WFSA Council - Wildcatch sectors are able to nominate one representative, the Councillor, to the WFSA Council. A second representative may be nominated as the Alternate Councillor. Councillors and Alternate Councillors are responsible for the broad management of the organisation.
The WFSA Constitution outlines the roles and responsibilities of Councillors and Alternate Councillors, these are:
- To act in accordance with the WFSA constitution
- Represent their sector
- To manage all business of the organisation;
- Appointment of Chairs and delegates to committees and/or meetings of relevance;
- Identify industry issues to be managed by the organisation;
